Roland Tan Yeow Teck

Pottery has always been an area of interest for Roland since his younger days, but he did not have the opportunity to pursue this interest then. Coincidentally, Covid opened up the door for him to embark on his pottery journey.
He started this journey with 3Arts in 2020 under the guidance of Belle Lam. In 2022, a wood-firing trip to Japan - Tokoname, organised by 3Arts made a significant impact on his pottery journey, pushing his passion for this art to another level.
Roland enjoys experimenting with different techniques of building and throwing clay works. He loves exploring unconventional ways of doing things.
Roland's other passion - fishing - often brings him to the streams and rivers in jungles where he finds wild clay for his works.
Roland also enjoys teaching pottery and this is his way of giving back to the community; this passion and love for pottery. As a relatively new potter, he understands the difficulties and struggles that students face, similar to what he experienced not too long ago. He always strives to find ways to help students overcome challenges as they embark on their own pottery journeys.
