Shelen retired in 2021 from the banking industry where she worked for almost 40 years. She fell in love with pottery a few years ago. What started as a weekend hobby soon grew into a bigger passion. She committed more time and took up wheel throwing after her retirement.
Since December 2021, Shelen started teaching on a part-time basis at 3Arts Pottery Studio, coaching people who are enthusiastic about pottery and learning hand-building. She feels very grateful to have gained lots of knowledge and valuable advice from various veteran resident potters here.
“Pottery is a deep sea of knowledge. Just to make a vessel, there are so many processes to manage, from understanding the types of clay, shaping and trimming of forms, selection of the right match of glaze, bisque firing and high firing etc. There are always new challenges, and it never gets old with pottery.” – Shelen
