Tan Geok Chye

Fascinated by a pottery gift from a relative, this sparked Tan's interest in taking pottery as a hobby in 2003. He started with a course in hand-building, followed by throwing on the pottery wheel, and has continued his interest to date.
In 2009, Tan progressed to throwing vases with tiny necking, common Chinese teapots including donut-shaped and the like. In 2013, to refine his skills, he took up a Certificate program for Ceramics at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). In his spare time, he also learns Chinese Calligraphy in hopes that one day he can combine both crafts in his art.
Tan hopes that his students have a relaxing time in class and that they enjoy the process of making an art piece. He believes Singapore is a fast-paced society, and clay and craft can help greatly reduce stress.
